In 1984, Esmena began selling her homemade curry powder out of necessity. As a single mother living in Jamaica and unable to find work, she was determined to support her only daughter, Elizabeth, and provide her with a proper education. What started as a small effort to make ends meet quickly became a beloved staple in the local community.

With over 30 years of experience, Esmena perfected her curry powder recipe, blending spices with unmatched care, passion, and tradition. Her flavorful curry powder became known for its rich aroma and authentic taste—earning praise from family, friends, and loyal customers who kept coming back for more.

Thanks to the profits from her spice sales, Esmena was able to send Elizabeth to school. Inspired by her mother’s resilience and fueled by the many compliments on the dishes made with her curry powder, Elizabeth joined forces with her cousins, Jonoi and Chantha—whom Esmena also helped to raise. Together, they made a dream come true.

On December 1, 2020, they officially launched Esmen’s Curry Powder Inc., bringing this treasured family recipe to the world.
